About Me

Why am I serving?

Ever since I returned from a volunteering build-trip in Mexico with my secondary school, I have wanted to do more voluntary work, and I believe that serving with Mercy Ships is God's calling for me. During 2017 Soul Survivor, one of the guest speakers was preaching the story of Moses, and how God doesn't worry about the circumstances of those he calls, and that everyone fits into his plan. This has resonated with me whilst deciding that I would join Mercy Ships, as I am not in the medical field, however, the idea that the service comes from a ship says that they need everyone to do what they are good at, to help that the important, life-saving work gets done.
As I am writing this, I am 18 years old, and got my A-Level results a few weeks ago and I have no idea what I want to do with my life, and I want to do something different rather than follow the trend of going to University, doing an apprenticeship or whatever, but instead, do something worthwhile, for two and a bit years, from November 2018 (with training in Texas from September 2018) until I know what I know what I need to do.
Also, I am going with my parents, Stuart and Lynne, but I am going in my own right. They also have their own blog.
